  Chomatero church

We start at the church in Chomatero and walk to the Monastery Grivitsanis. This monastery was renovated and so we try to get the key to look inside. Then we walk back a bit and walk along the old water mills to Klisoura, where we will have a break at the church. After the break we walk downhill, cross a small river and walk uphill to Mistraki, where we have another short break. Walking downhill from Mistraki we have to be careful because of the rolling stones. Back to Chomatero we can have a drink at the cafeneion "To Steki Tis Eleni".

This walk is quite challenging, with several ups and downs, and some sections are quite steep.
You’ll need to be in good physical shape.

The chronicle of today
A beautiful, sunny Saturday just before Orthodox Easter welcomed 30 Freewalkers and two friendly dogs to Chomateró.
It was a lovely walk where we got to see several sites that reflect a bygone era of local life, one that no longer exists and as well the skillfully restored Grivitsanis Monastery.
The route included several stream crossings and particularly steep sections.
A beautiful but challenging walk.
All of this was rewarded at the end with a lovely spread at the “To Steki Tis Eleni” Kafenion where the Freewalkers committee organized and offered some mezé, with the main course being a delicious roast suckling pig.
See you next Saturday, 18th of April at 10 am at the parking lot of the Tsapí Taverna and Campground.
