Methoni carpark at the harbor
We first walk through the village to the north, cross the main road and walk uphill.
We pass the ruins of the Agios Leos monastery, where we can take a look. Then we walk to the church Agios Konstantinos kai Eleni.
Now we have walked 4.5 km. Because this church is located on a high point, we have a beautiful view of Methoni and the sea. And we have our banana break here.
We continue walking up and down to the next church, Agios Georgios. Here we will have our second break. After this stop we walk downhill, cross the mainroad again and walk to the sea side with a beautiful view of the harbor and the castle of Methoni.
After the walk we can have a drink at a local Kafenion.
For those who don't want to do the long hike, there is a shorter option on the main road Methoni-Evangelismos directly to Methoni.

The chronicle of today
A beautiful day for a walk, plenty of sunshine and 20 degrees.
32 people and 2 dogs gathered in the square at Methoni's harbor.
We first walked through the village to the north, crossed the main road and walked uphill.
We took a look at the ruins of the Agios Leos monastery then we walked to the church Agios Konstantinos kai Eleni.
There we had our first banana break and a beautiful view of Methoni and the sea.
We continued walking up and downhill to the next church, Agios Georgios.
Halfway, we crossed the main road from Methoni to Evangelismos.
12 people took the shortcut back to Methoni there.
The rest of the group continued and we had our second break at the church and again a beautiful view overland and the sea.
After this stop we walked up and down again and passsed the third church Agios Zoni, along a beautiful church path to Tapia.
From there, we walked downhill to the sea and the promised terrace in the square of Methoni for a drink.
