  Stenosia

Our walk will take us to the Stenosiá waterfalls.
We will meet at 9:00 am at the meeting point indicated on the map below.

Please note that the road from Pylos to Kalamata is currently closed, so you will need to find other roads to get to Stenosia.
Google Maps gives different directions depending on where you are starting from.

It is a relatively short walk, but the path in the second part is quite wild and challenging.
The wintertime has been very rainy, so the vegetation has grown a lot.
Several passages are rocky, others quite steep, and we will tackle narrow paths through the reeds where we often have to bend down to pass.
Crossing the creek does not pose any particular problems as the bridges are in good conditions, except for one section at the beginning where you will have to cross the creek without a bridge.
There are stones and tree trunks to stand on and the water is not more than 20 cm deep.
Some trees have fallen and you will need to bend down very low to pass under them.
The last 300 metres of steep climb up the waterfall also require caution to avoid slipping.
This is a very picturesque, adventurous and exciting walk, almost entirely in the shade, which Freewalkers in good physical condition have completed several times without encountering any major problems.
It is important to wear good walking shoes, so please no sandals or flip-flops.
Please note that you need to be in a good physical shape to tackle this walk, as you will need to be fairly agile to get through the passages where you have to bend down, and have good balance to climb the narrow paths of the waterfalls.

At the end of the walk, we will all go for a drink together at a Kafenion in Stenosia.
